When I started my dating coaching business, I had an advantage because I used to be a reporter, editor and advice columnist. I have a master's degree from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, where I focused on broadcast journalism. Day in and day out, I was that person on the other side of the phone, taking calls from business owners, publicists, politicians and others (I've interviewed royalty, celebrities, high-profile politicians and more) who wanted to pitch me stories. I know how the press thinks, and I know how to pique their interest. I also know what irks them about pitches and will let you in on the secrets. I get calls from the media frequently when they want a quote from a dating expert or a love expert, and at this point I don’t even actively seek them out any longer. The momentum's there. I'm now known as a go-to dating expert who the members of the press - from the New York Post to smaller niche dating sites for women, like Bustle, to everything in between- contact when they need a quote or a sound bite, or a guest on a podcast.
