Don't Give Up
An article in August's Vogue magazine that detailed how writer Joyce Maynard found love online should help inspire you all.
I don't get the impression she follows The Rules for dating - she went to the Amalfi Coast with a guy she had just met online and it ended badly (as we all could have predicted), but there are a few things in the article that can benefit Rules girls.
For one, for all her fame, Maynard wasn't too proud to go online. She wanted results and she did what she could to meet someone.
Maynard, who is a very well-known writer who became even more well-known when she wrote a book about her affair with reclusive author JD Salinger, could have thought the whole thing was above her, something so many people I speak to and coach worry about. But she went online and even after having a bad experience, went back on and met a lawyer and got married! The boyfriend she met on Match who she traveled with to Italy very early on, sounded awful and even made pot shots at her when he saw her back online after she broke up with him. He was back online as well. Too funny.
What I like about this story is that Maynard went back online, even after a bad experience, and found her match. She is 60 and married him last year.
So girls don't give up. Make sure you are online and out there at events and keep the faith!!
